Sally Hansen Salon Effects

I envy those who are creative with a nail art pen and as statement nails are becoming more and more popular, I thought I would take the easy way out and try Sally Hansen's new Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips in LACED UP.

I purchased the box of 16 nail polish strips for $9.95 from Priceline (which is pricey for one use only but I think if I do repurchase again, it will be for a special occasion), the box also contained a cuticle stick, mini buffer and file as well as application instructions.

After reading the instructions I thought I had the application down pat but after my first attempt to my little fingernail I thought "I may need some more assistance".... so I hit up YouTube (always good for everything!).

Take 2, after actually watching someone apply the polish strips, application was so much easier. Its as easy as choosing the correct size strip, peeling both the backing and clear plastic off and placing it onto the nail while smoothing onto and over the nail and filling off the excess.

The end result is a funky looking manicure giving the appearing of a flawless paint job that can last up to ten days (we'll see).

Have you tired Salon Effects? If so, I would love to know how they were for you and if they lasted up to 10 days?

  1. I'm really interested to try these although I haven't yet. Only problem is I can't have nail polish at work so I guess I'll have to wait until my summer holiday! They look gorgrous though! How do you get them off? Regular polish remover?

  5. Thanks for your comments :)

Yes they come off with regular nail polish remover, however I have not tried to remove them yet hopfully its not too difficult :)

Unfortunatly, the Salon Effects are not resuable... they are similar to a thin sticker and would probally spoil if peeled off.

@Vanessa, I have just been searching for a website that stocks Sally Hansen and ships internationally but I had no luck... If I come accross anything I'll let you know :)

  6. Yes girl! I actually used the same design too with the lace, love it. Mine lasted for so long and I literally got SO many compliments! You're going to love them :} I also tried the plain yellow ones.. those weren't as great. The lace design kind of hides any "crinkles" that you might make when sticking them on - The yellow ones showed all the creases. So, I recommend sticking with a pattern!

You should cut yours in half before applying them. That's what I did and I still have the rest of the box to use for whenever I want to!

  7. I really want to try these! I think they look great on short nails. Do they have a plasticy feel? I hope they don't come off in a couple of days like my blixz nails!

  8. @Kelsey great tip, I will give cutting them in half ago next time, thanks :)

@TheConcealer they do feel a littly plasticy but more like a few layers of nail polish - quite secure. Im into day 3 and they are still in good shape.
